Advent Begins With Just Six Words

Advent Begins With Just Six Words

December 01, 2019 | Perry Kallis

The Biblical account of the first Christmas often comes to us in short, powerful phrases that fill our minds with wonder. “Caesar Augustus issued a decree... and she gave birth... wrapped him in swaddling clothes... there were shepherds in the fields...”  But before any of these phrases, there was a brief six-word phrase that rocked Joseph and Mary’s world, and from which their hope and trust in God was born. This Sunday, we’ll unwrap those six words as part of our first theme of Advent as their story gives us hope for dealing with life’s unexpected turns.
