Beware of Falling Into Your Own Trap

Beware of Falling Into Your Own Trap

November 03, 2019 | Perry Kallis

We have different words for it—“comeuppance”, “just desserts”, and “what goes around...”. All of these describe the feeling that a sense of justice is being restored. Esther Chapter 5 is the outline of an evil man who thinks he is setting a trap for others, one that he himself will eventually fall into. But in the mix of this chapter, there is a warning for all of us to beware of our own tendencies to gain an advantage at the expense of others, which is the polar opposite of God’s grace through Christ. God is always at work... even when I am in danger of falling into my own trap.
