Comparing Our Treasure and Our Trash

Comparing Our Treasure and Our Trash

July 21, 2019 | Perry Kallis

Not only are garage sales good for getting rid of stuff, they are also excellent events for evaluating our true feelings about something. I recall seeing our children get sentimental when a toy they willingly gave away, suddenly made them very possessive at the moment they watched another child walk away with it. What good works in my life do I claim “not to value” until I realize that those good works do not really make God love me more? Paul is addressing the importance of putting the highest value on God’s grace, even when we are tempted by self-efforts to make God accept us. It is a powerful and important lesson that is foundational to our faith. Join us as we clarify the true difference between spiritual trash and treasure.
