Series: The Seven Churches of Revelation
Ephesus - You Lost that Loving...
February 02, 2020 | Perry Kallis
Passage: Revelation 2:1-7
An older woman says to her husband, “How come you never say you love me, anymore?” The husband answers, “I told you once – if anything changes, I’ll let you know.” That old joke also contains a hidden tragedy. Love that grows cold becomes a relationship that loses its purpose. That is not just true for people, it is true for a church’s heart for Christ. In Revelation 2, the church at Ephesus had grown cold toward Christ, even though all the routines continued. This message draws us all back to the importance of seeking Christ with our hearts, not just our heads.

CBS has had a reality TV show for the past 10 years entitled Undercover Boss. Each episode depicts a boss going undercover into the core of his business life to discover the reality of how his company is really doing. The last book of the Bible, Revelation, begins with a similar scenario about Jesus walking among seven specific churches in Asia Minor. But this is not past history, it is an entertaining show...it is the real reality for each and every church. Jesus IS regularly in the midst of each church and knows us deeply. This series will helps us re-discover the foundational truth of what it means “when Jesus shows up at church...”.
