Getting in Shape to Serve

Getting in Shape to Serve

March 03, 2019 | Perry Kallis

Each year I willingly subject myself to a somewhat physically and emotionally uncomfortable situation. WHY? Because I know it is for my own good and it can benefit me as well as the Kingdom of God in the long run. What is this uncomfortable situation? An annual checkup with my doctor. Each of us only gets one physical body in which is housed our one life, so caring for it is important. The apostle Paul gives churches a “check-up” for the Body of Christ in his letter to the Corinthians. It contains authoritative information about how a healthy church body best functions for the glory and purposes of God. Let’s gather to receive that truth together, then conclude with a celebration of the Lord’s Supper as we remember who our Great Physician is – Jesus the Christ!
