Often there is “more going on” than we think with any given situation. That was certainly the case with Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem on what we call Palm Sunday. The cheering crowds were likely anticipating a political victory over the Romans that Jesus might bring. But Jesus was actually about to accomplish something eternally greater than mere, temporary political improvement. The Biblical events around Palm Sunday can provide important insights into preparing our hearts to remember and respond to the historical and eternal hinge of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
