Passage: Ephesians 1:1-2

A couple years ago I walked up to the baggage check counter at an airport. They, of course, asked my name and for my official ID. I was sure I had it in my wallet, but after scrambling around without success, they asked me to step off to the side. I finally located my driver’s license in a different wallet flap. But for a moment, I felt a bit panicked. I could say who I was, but they wanted me to prove it!

We begin a series in the book of Ephesians. A letter by Paul written to give deep doctrine and truth. But one of its most powerful and reoccurring themes is to declare, with authority, just who we are as believers IN CHRIST! The world, or even our own emotions, can try to steal our identity with labels or feelings of insecurity, but only IN CHRIST can we have confidence about our purpose and eternity.
