Living Under the Influence of Christ

May 02, 2021 | Perry Kallis

Passage: Ephesians 5:15-21

The words “under the influence” do not usually bring positive images to the mind because that phrase, in our culture, usually applies to those who have consumed mind-altering substances. However, the Apostle Paul wades directly into that negative image to illustrate a contrasting positive point about believers being filled with the Holy Spirit. The word Paul uses for “filled” literally means to be influenced in a positive direction. Picture the wind filling the sails of a boat so that the vessel might travel in a purposeful direction, and then apply that to our lives as believers being daily directed to live obediently for God. Paul will include some exceptionally practical examples and advice about how we can do this. Join us for a sermon that declares God’s truth for living under the influence of Christ.
