Real Thanksgiving is a Verb

Passage: Psalms 100:1-5
They are called “gerunds”, words that can be used as either a verb or a noun. Examples include bait, fly, park, peel, and ship. But let me add one more-- THANKSGIVING. I realize it is easiest to treat that word as a noun, describing an annual holiday focused on food and football. But, Biblically, thanksgiving is most appropriately treated as an action verb. Although it will take extra effort in this year of 2020, it is especially important for God’s people to plan godly responses of gratitude that honor God. Everything may feel a little different as we deal with restrictions and changes, but these difficult times can actually enhance the truth about gratitude. We will examine several Bible passages that invite us into the proper actions of true thanksgiving this year.
