Passage: James 1:12-18
I confess I am not a skilled fisherman. I do, however, know that successful fishing requires a knowledge of the kind of lure or bait most likely to attract the type of fish one is seeking to catch. Catfish “stink bait” will not attract a trout. Likewise, Satan knows exactly what kind of personalized temptations to dangle in front of us to lure us into giving into sin. The writer, James, addresses this timeless and important topic of dealing with temptation in this portion of his letter. It may have been written over 2000 years ago, but it is very timely for helping today’s believers understand temptation and deal with it in ways that advance God’s holiness.
