Walking The Line

Passage: Ephesians 4:1-3
When we hear the phrase, “walk the line” we might think of some cop show on TV that includes someone trying to walk a straight line in a sobriety test, or we might even think of Johnny Cash’s famous 1956 song, “I Walk the Line” that speaks about being faithful in marriage. But of even greater significance, we, who are believers, should recall Paul’s instructions to Ephesian believers – “I urge you to walk worthy of your calling”. How we live our daily lives is our truest reflection of our submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Paul used the word, ‘walk’ because it indicates a steady, persevering move toward the goal of bringing glory to God each day. Fortunately, Paul does more than give a command. He also included some very practical actions that help us walk the line for our Lord Jesus. We will review the practicality of spiritual line-walking this coming Sunday.
