When Jesus Came to Town - Palm Sunday 2020
April 04, 2020 | Perry Kallis
Passage: Matthew 21:1-11
Have you seen that cell phone plan commercial where a woman is videoing a basketball game when suddenly she is distracted in the background by some sports team mascots getting into a fight, which then becomes her focus? That’s a great example of how “what’s going on in the background” actually becomes the primary story.
When Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, to the cries of “Hosanna”, it seems like a great story for Palm Sunday, but there is a great deal more going on eternally than just a parade. Because we know the rest of that story in scripture, we have the privilege of zooming out to seeing how this Palm Sunday event is getting us ready for the greatest event in history, Easter, and the Second Coming. Please go to the website and watch the upcoming sermon this weekend where we see more of what is happening “When Jesus Comes to Town!” and how it applies to us today.
As things continue to change daily, remember that God’s truth and plans remain firm. Keep in mind that literally every story in the Bible is a description of how God takes people through great change in order to bring them to His purposes and plans. God has counted us, His people, worthy of living through this season of change with hope and confidence in Him.
“To the King of ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:17)
