God’s Spiritual APGAR Test

For most people who became parents after 1965, the first ‘test’ our newborn babies were given was called an ‘APGAR’--a five-part evaluation of their physical health. In our passage for today, the Apostle John is declaring a similar kind of spiritual test to evaluate the health of those who have been “born of God”. Our spiritual evaluation, as believers, includes such things as obedience to God, faith in Jesus, and love for others. It is healthy for believers to regularly examine their personal walk with God by reviewing these evaluations.
